Life, the Universe, and Everything

Comics like these are the ones that come from instinct.  These are the ones I come up with when I allow myself to stop thinking and let the characters interact.

Though I’ve rallied against the blank background in the past, I felt like it was appropriate to make the drawing as simple as possible here.

Over the course of my two+1/2 years of coming up with jokes in the comic strip form, I have realized that eliminating words is crucial to the punch of a joke, and comics that subsist on as few words as possible are difficult to come up with.  Even more difficult are the pantomime comics that have no words.  I’m still not convinced I’m funny enough to have many of those in me, and I admire those cartoonists who have a real sense of humor from which to pluck jokes.  The bastards.
