Coming and Going on Bad Terms

Because Steven neither attends school or work, he is free to waste his time and the time of others.  I haven’t really done much in terms of illuminating the city this comic is named after(the comic is named Jerkwater), so I’ll probably start doing more of that.

By the way, the clerk is rummaging through a drawer in the last panel, reaching perhaps for a flagon of liquor or a handgun.  Who knows how he deals with stress?  I just didn’t want to have the character looking at the camera as his reaction to the joke.  Don’t you hate when comics do that?  It comes across as a plea by the cartoonist to laugh at the partially-formed joke they know isn’t funny.  I think if a joke is effective enough every single character in the comic can turn their back on the audience, like those badass musicians!
