Call of the Modern

For the uninitiated (which, if I’m honest myself, is everyone except about a dozen people) Eric is based on me. I dislike fixtures of American life disappearing for no reason other than technological advancements, especially when those advancements represent a step backwards in terms of quality of life. My prominent example is payphones disappearing because of the ubiquity of cellular phones. Cellular phones have made everyone block out the word they’re living in so they can have a conversation with somebody about what they’re doing in real life. Reality for these people must be like when you’re attempting to describe a dream to someone. That is, pointless.
